The District Assembly was held at the Mercure Harvestland Hotel, yesterday (21.6.2014).
The RCBS had a very good turn out with six of our members attending.
The morning started with the Plenary Session where the introductions and formalities were dealt with. We then split into smaller groups for three separate and specialized training sessions covering incoming officers ( ie. President Elect, incoming Treasurer and Secretary etc.,) Club Administration, Membership, Public Image, Service Projects, the Rotary Foundation, New Generation and the Youth Exchange Programme.
In the evening the District Governor handover took place, which was an elaborate and fun affair with Belly Dancing, Bali traditional dancing, live music, speeches and an impressive candle lit handover ceremony, ‘Lighting Up Rotary’.
I believe we all learnt a great deal from the District Assembly training sessions and had a lot of fun at the same time. It also gave us the chance for fellowship with many of our Rotary colleagues from other clubs and we were able to learn about their clubs and their projects. There was one trainer ( a Rotary International steward) who had flown in specially from India to give the Rotary Foundation and Global Grant training sessions.
