PP Anita Lococo is an American living in Bali for 32 years with her husband. Anita founded and operated the first Real Estate Company in Bali in 1992 until 2016 (24 years). Anita also published a book about villa interiors in Bali in 2006, entitled “Living in Bali”- Taschen and in 2011, “Women in Bali”. She retired in 2016 and has thus endeavored to be a professional oil painter having given several exhibitions, one being in Bali in 2021.
It was after the Bali Bomb in 2001, that PP Anita decided to “give back” to the island she was so fortunate and participate with service to the community by joining the Rotary Club of Bali Seminyak in 2002. During her 21 years in Rotary she participated in 6 Matching Grants and 5 Global Grants. The projects she has been involved have been related to Literacy, Clean Water projects in Bali and on other islands in Indonesia making wells and water access, raising goats as livestock on the island of Nusa Penida, Environmental projects for sustainable waste management, providing a bus for Vocational Training for women seeking employment, scholarships for over 70 students, a customized bus for the Disabled, Maternal Health Care with laboratory equipment, Food Distribution programs during COVID, and Disease Prevention- for Cervical Cancer and building 70 toilets and water tanks on the remote island of Flores.
PP Anita has served as Chairman of Service Projects three times for 3 year periods (9 years), been Secretary for the club 12 times and served as AG and President in 2007-08. She is also a Major Donor. She believes that she could have never helped so many thousands of people to change their lives without working as a team with other like-minded Rotary members. PP Anita believes that action as a Rotary Member and participation in Service Projects is the key to living the Rotary Motto of “Service Before Self.”
