GUEST  SPEAKER

Carla Schnitker , from Bolder, Colorado, USA spoke to the Club about "High Impact Teams: Their Secrets."   Carla has specialized in leadership and management development and has worked in this field for almost twenty years, both as an executive and as a consultant. She has worked with individuals and firms in both the USA and Europe whereby her work has directly led to dramatically stronger organizations with more effective employees.

Carla started her interesting talk by posing the QUESTION: What is Most Crucial for Any Team?

During the next 10 minutes, she carefully explained the following points and then discussed how these components make for an effective Team:

Trust Leads to:
Being vulnerable
Taking risks
Speaking up
Dare to disagree

Constructive Conflict Leads to:
Fast Problem Solving
Openness
Reduction of Politics, Coalitions
Greater Input of All Members

Good Communication Leads to:
Respect
Openness
Greater Knowledge
Better and Faster Decision Making

Challenges Teams:
Different Commitment
Difficult Team Members

She then posed a very IMPORTANT Question to all of the members: Why are You a Rotarian? Following this, she elaborated on the various positive aspects of working on a successful WINNING TEAM.

TEAM - Components / The 4 Way Test

YOU - Allergies / Leadership

MEMBER - Boundaries /Exit

Finally as she was summing up her major points, she remarked that Rotary's 4 Way Test is and enduring symbol of RESPECT that Rotary International has regarding the humanitarian work it has completed around the world to date.
